You can search PLPMDB by different categories. Wildcard is not allowed, but you can search for substring match (one or more words).
In a literature search for example using words active site you will find all mutants described in the references with the words active site in the title. Example: The role of residues outside the active site: structural basis for function of C191 mutants of Escherichia coli aspartate aminotransferase.
