WHAT IS PLPMDB:

Pyridoxal-5'-phosphate dependent enzymes constitute a ubiquitous class of biocatalysts. They catalyze a variety of reactions involving amino acids including isomerizations, transaminations, racemizations, aldol cleavage, decarboxylations, and side chain eliminations or replacements. PLPMDB includes mutation information from SWISS-PROT/TrEMBL, several web-based mutation data resources, and data extracted from the literature. All mutants data have been organized in a Relational Database Managment System to enable database searching. The database covers more than 800 mutations described in papers published in the period from 1986 to 2004. To guarantee high quality data, the Pyridoxal-5'-phosphate dependent enzymes that have been subjected to mutagenesis have to be present in the annotated database SWISS-PROT. PLPMDB is up to date monthly and freely available to academia and industry.

SEARCH PLPMDB. You can search the database by:

  1. using a search form to specify your search, and search for specific mutations, specific enzyme or  bibliographic data.
  2. We have also prepared some lists that may be useful entry points into the database.
    • A list of all mutants.
    • A list of all mutations.
    • A list of papers referenced.
    • A list of all sequences of PLP enzymes.
    • A list of all 3d structures  of PLP enzymes.
